Nursing Direct are seeking a compassionate and skilled Support Worker to provide dedicated care and assistance for a young individual with complex needs within their family home in Northwood, London. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference while being part of a professional and supportive team.
Shift patterns:
- 4 days per week (Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday), 16:00 – 22:00
Key responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support at home and during community activities, including swimming and holiday outings.
- Assist with all aspects of daily living, including personal care and feeding.
- Maintain safety and implement behavioural support strategies as advised by CAMHS and behavioural analysts.
- Monitor and assist with seizure observation and management as needed.
- Work collaboratively with an existing care team, including another agency providing 2:1 support.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary safety measures.
- Drive and accompany the individual in a Motability vehicle.
Essential skills & requirements:
- Experience supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), challenging behaviours, and learning disabilities.
- Knowledge and skills in managing self-injurious behaviours, such as head-banging and self-hitting.
- Seizure management experience preferred but not essential, as additional carers are present.
- PMVA training (or equivalent) required.
- Enhanced Child DBS check required.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a Motability vehicle.
