Nursing Direct are currently looking for experienced Healthcare Assistants (MUST DRIVE) in the Clapham area to support a gentleman with sensory and motor loss. You will work in a safe and supportive environment, delivering person-centered care to enable our clients to live as independently as possible.
** Free in-house training can be provided for this role to ensure you’re confident and competent in all required tasks **
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with manual handling, including hoist transfers using a ceiling track hoist and sling.
- Providing personal care, including showering and dressing.
- Administering medications, including PRN medications in emergencies.
- Supporting with bowel care using the Peristeen bowel care system and managing suprapubic catheters.
- Preparing meals and assisting with nutrition and hydration.
- Delivering manual cough assistance when required.
- Driving an adapted vehicle for community outings and social activities (drivers must be 25+ for insurance purposes).
- Adhering to infection control measures, including wearing face masks while in the property.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 6 months UK healthcare experience.
- Manual handling training.
- Medication administration certificate.
- Experience with spinal injury care, including autonomic dysreflexia and postural hypotension.
- Competence in Peristeen bowel care (training provided).
- Suprapubic catheter care experience.
- SOVA Level 2 certification.
- Valid DBS (within a year or on the update service).
