Steve Barclay has said that he is going to order civil servants to see if it is possible to rocket the number of staff who are being recruited by the NHS. If you work in homecare, offer bespoke care packages or even support private nursing with mental health then this will impact you. Even social workers are going to be affected. Mr Barclay has since given an interview and he has said that right now it is a sprint to try and get everyone ready for the decision and that the decision to hire more staff from overseas could simply not wait until a new prime minister has been chosen. Of course, the health secretary has suggested that more hiring has to be done for British jobs and that this could well take place in Sri Lanka, India and even the Philippines.
If staff want to get a visa, then they have to prove that they have a solid grasp of the English language, and it has also been indicated that they have to show that they have a nursing qualification. You do not need to have a high enough standard as the NHS frontline work though, so it is important to keep this in mind. When you look at the seasonal flu, or even the chance of another Covid wave, you will see that this is having a major impact on things like rising energy bills. This could well increase hospital admissions and it is safe to say that there are some real challenges coming this way. A lot of people are concerned that there has to be a real sprint and that people have to do what they can to band together and not hold off when it comes to critical or important decisions. They have to happen now and not later on.
